The Bible is without a doubt completely and verbally inspired of God: “ALL (emphasis mine, PM) scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). No other volume has been subjected to the scrutiny and faced the attacks as has the sacred page, and yet no other volume is as highly esteemed and greatly treasured as the precious word of God. The Bible must be fully accepted as that which it claims to be (given directly from the mouth of God), or it must be rejected as merely the product of men who were misguided by their delusions of grandeur. It is foolish to think that parts of the Bible come from God, while others were added by men. Sadly, this is precisely the way in which so many view the precious book divine. Who gets to decide which parts are from God, and which parts originated with man? The evidence supporting the Bible’s claim of divine inspiration is overwhelmingly in its favor. Outside evidence, including the testimony of many who were antagonistic to Christianity, points to the authenticity and the reliability of the Scriptures. Archaeological discoveries have verified the veracity of the Bible, with not one of these discoveries ever discrediting anything found within the word of God! Scientific foreknowledge is also another area wherein the word of God proves to be from above. Discoveries that have only recently come to light are found in the Bible, hundreds, even thousands, of years before men “discovered” these truths.

One of the greatest proofs of the inspiration of the Bible is found in the fulfilled prophecies contained therein. Sources estimate that there are approximately 800 specific prophecies recorded in the Bible. Of these, 333 are said to have been spoken concerning Jesus Christ. What are the odds of all of these prophecies being fulfilled in Jesus? A mathematician calculated the astronomical odds of just eight of the 333 prophecies about Jesus being fulfilled. He said that you could take an area the size of Texas (over 260,000 square miles), fill the area with silver dollars to a depth of two feet, and randomly mark one of the coins. He then said that you could blindfold a man, and have him search for the one marked coin. The odds of his finding that one coin in one try are equivalent to just eight of the prophecies about Jesus being fulfilled! Yet, all of the prophecies concerning our Lord were fulfilled in every detail.
